Hong Kong and Beyond

Hong Kong.....The land of many noodles and tall buildings. We arrived today a little jetlaggy and dehydrated from the loooonnnng flight, but were ready to escape the airport and hit the town. On the flight, Chrissy won the "Screentime Award" with a total of three movies and two TV series, and Sierra won the "Concrete Eyelids Award" for sleeping eleven hours straight without movement. We just got off the ancient railway train that ascends the super-steep jungle hillside above the city and are now roughing it in an internet-like cafe sipping lattes and eating fine chocolate delicacies. We're all a bit whupped but I think a nice noodle lunch will revive us.......though we had a nice noodle breakfast at 9:00am. Tyler won the "Bad Meal Choice Award" by ordering a steaming bowl of bland macaroni-ish elbows burbling in a clear broth with a thin slice of "lunchmeat" and a fried egg. It looked kinda nasty and the look on his face whilst eating it made the award an easy win for him. We will be heading back to the airport soon, to take a Dragon Air flight to Kathmandu via Bangladesh. The adventure continues....stay tuned.

Now boarding......now boarding....

Here we go. No time left before we hop on the monster 747 staring at us out the window. We're wheels up in twenty. Kathmandu here we come. Thank you to Dan and Nathaniel Barrows for driving us up to the city in our rented 15passenger van. The best part about flying to Asia. I'm the tallest guy in line. Thank you for all the send off prayers. We'll write soon.

Preparing the way

Just because I have a few minutes, I thought I would try to start our blog so that it's out there in cyber space ready to be added to at a moments notice....or when Scott can find time. Because we all know he can make the written word come alive so much that you find yourself right next to him, ready to taste a Samosa from a vendor in Nepal!

Our team has been meeting weekly for a few weeks and has just a couple more opportunities before we leave. If any one of our team members or our trip crosses your mind please join us in prayer. We will be leaving Christmas Day Evening, driving to San Francisco and starting our journey at 12:05a.m. December 26. Our flight pattern goes from SFO to Hong Kong to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Our prayer requests are:
safe travel
safety during dental treatment
health of our whole team (last year our Nepali host was hospitalized!)
team cohesiveness
outreach to children during VBS
clarity during speaking (for leadership trainings)
non-christians to come for service and be curious about the churches who serve them
seeing the Nepali through God's eyes
the family left behind: jeanne, abigail,Zeke,Mimi and Alana Dolan and Bek Jett

We so appreciate your prayers and other partnering you've done with the Dolans and Tyler Hanson and, therefore, the Jetts and Dr. Kapadia. We are grateful for you.
